My friend Olivia and I road tripped over to Inkwood Books, in Tampa , so we could attend the launch party for Kristen Simmon's "Aritcle 5"! It was in the cutest, little independent bookstore and it makes me wish I had an indie in my town. I had never been to an author event before and I couldn't have picked a better one for my first. It was such a great time. Kristen is absolutely adorable and hilarious! She talked about her family and the people who helped her while getting this book done. She also shared some of her journey from writing "Article 5" to finally getting it published. She also gave us some info about the second book in the trilogy. She promised fist fights, kissing, and a daring rescue :0)
While she was talking about her support system, she mentioned that Jess (J.A.) Souders was in the audience, which made this event doubly cool. While everyone was getting in line to get their books signed, I went up to Jess and asked if I could get a photo with her and she was kind enough to agree! While we were all waiting I got to talking to her and the gals hanging with her; Christy, Larissa and Tara! All of them are in some stage of the writing/publishing process and it was really cool getting to meet all of them. They were all so sweet and it just adds to my theory that YA people are the nicest :0)
I also got to meet Jenna from Making The Grade! She's the first fellow blogger I've gotten to meet in person and she was a sweetheart, too. I thought I was all set to take lots of pictures, but that girl had a real fancy camera and was just clicking away :0)
I had the best time meeting Kristen, hearing her stories, and meeting all the other great people there. I can't wait for my next author event!
And because I love you guys, I picked up an extra copy of Article 5 and had Kristen sign it for one lucky winner! There is also some awesome Article 5 swag up for grabs, too! This one is US only, since I have to ship it from home. To enter, just fill out the rafflecopter below the pictures :0)
