My name is Meghan Chase.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

Apparently what was missing for me in the second book were adventures in the Iron Realm. Not that I didn't like "The Iron Daughter", I just wasn't as enthralled by it as I was "The Iron King". Of course that's all irrelevant now, because this one is most definitely my favorite of the series. There was so much going on in this book. Action, humor, heartbreak, swoony moments...aahhh!

We start back in the Human Realm with exiled Meghan and Ash. Everything is not peachy for our lovebirds, the false King is looking for Meghan and not so they can sit down for tea. They need a place to stay, so they enlist the help of Leanansidhe, for a price. Along the way they manage to pick up Grim and Puck, and they all head to a safe house to prepare for the battle with the false king. Of course things are never simple in this world and they get called back to the Nevernever by the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. After some more deals are made, our gang heads into the Iron Realm in search of the false king.

The fighting and action scenes in this one were so good. I could tear my eyes away while reading all of the crazy beasties from the Iron Realm. And hello, Meghan finally learning to fight for herself, that was the best part of the whole book! Granted, Ash and Puck still felt the need to always be protecting her, which led to some hurt feelings a couple of times, but I liked that everyone was pulling their weight this time around. And Grim, how I love him, his personality and attitude are what I imagine I would get from my cat if he could talk. This all leads to a giant, crazy climax that I can't elaborate on because that would ruin it, but it's really good! This was such a good addition to this series and I can't wait to dive into "The Iron Knight"! After the ending on this one, I can't wait to find out where she is going to take it from here. If you haven't started this series yet, what are you waiting for :0)

Oh! I totally want a Razor!

  2. This book was definitely my favorite because we see Meghan and what she can do as a fey. Thanks for the review. If you can after reading and reviewing, see my review of The Iron Knight!
