I'm participating in Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday they post their top ten lists on different bookish topics.
This weeks Top Ten is showcasing the top ten books that everyone else has read, but I haven't gotten to yet.
1. The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare: I read the first book, but just didn't love it as much as everyone seems to and didn't end up picking up the rest in the series. I feel like I should give it another try, though, because it is everywhere.
2. Divergent by Veronica Roth: After all of the posts I have seen about this book all over the web, I honestly believe I am actually the only person who hasn't read this yet. Is it really as good as the hype suggests?
3. Blood Red Road by Moira Young: I'm seeing this one quite a bit, too, but I just haven't picked it up yet.
4. The Forrest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan: I've heard a lot of good things about this series, I just haven't gotten to it yet.
5. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray: I loved her book Beauty Queens, it was so sarcastic and amazing, but I'm not super into historical fiction so I haven't read this one.
6. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: I actually owned this at one point in time, but in the craziness that has been my life lately, it has gone on to better place. I will try and get to it in the future.
7. Anything by John Green: People say his books are fantastic and they all sound fantastic, but for whatever reason I have never read one.
8. Anything by Melina Marchetta: Again, I hear she is amazing and I've got at least one of her books in my Nook, I just haven't read her stuff yet.
9. The Help by Kathryn Stockett: I am dying to read this and I actually have it, I just need to tear myself away from YA long enough to enjoy it :0)
10. Crank by Ellen Hopkins: I hear its amazing, but I just can't do verse. It bugs me and I can't get past it.

I haven't read most of these either. I have read the first Mortal Instruments book and The Forest of Hands and Teeth but that is all. All the rest I want to read but haven't read yet.
ReplyDeleteOne major series that is on my list is I haven't finished the Harry Potter series - I've read the first three. I've enjoyed them just need to make time to finish the rest. I also haven't read Mockingjay yet, too afraid to finish the series - I pre-ordered for my Kindle but have not read it yet. Oh well. Not enough time in the day :)
@Crystal I know what you mean, it seems like an impossible feat to actually read all the books that I want to. I am actually a little ashamed, as a book lover, that I have watched all of the Harry Potter movies, but haven't read any of the books. The Hunger Games series was one I didn't pick up until last year, but once I started I loved every minute of it :0)
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I am definitely not alone in not having read certain YA titles! Our lists this week are very similar. I read A Great and Terrible Beauty, but never made it to books 2 and 3 in the series. Maybe I will have to give them another go.
ReplyDeleteWow! I have read City of Bones and loved it, but haven't read the rest of the series yet. I started The Forest of Hands and Teeth, but couldn't fully get into it so I decided to put it down for now. I've read the first two books in the Gemma Doyle trilogy, they are really good! =)
ReplyDeleteBut the rest I haven't read. I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't read anything by John Green. I hear he's awesome though. =)
We have a couple in common. Crank wasn't on my list, but I haven't read it either. Like you, I am not so sure about the verse prose thing.
ReplyDeleteOmgosh Divergent is just as great as everyone says! Sometimes the hype surrounding a book will make it a disappointment when you finally read it, but I assure you Divergent is great! I also thought that the first book in the Mortal Instruments was a little slow, but the series definitely picks up. Hope you give it another try!

# 2,6 and 9 I have not read yet. my list is http://sidnebkclubreviewz.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete@Kristan I'll have to put Divergent on my TBR list, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI cannot say how much I fangirl over Divergent... I just can't get enough of it! It's probably my favorite book ever. I loved it so much! Some people might not like it, but I assure you, it's definitely worth the read.
ReplyDeleteI really liked City of Bones. I haven't picked up the next book yet, but I plan on doing so. Sad to hear that you didn't really like it.
Awesome list, Sarah! :)

My Top Ten :)
I love John Green! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I also liked The Mortal Instruments :)

Thanks for stopping by! The Mortal Instruments and Divergent are the only ones that I've read on your list and I thought they were great!
ReplyDeleteToo bad that you didn't like City of Bones though. I guess it's one of those books where you either love it or hate it since there's been so many conflicting reviews about it.
